Every Thursday in the Kinder room we run PMP, which stands for perceptual motor program. PMP assists the children with gross motor skills, fine motor skills, balance, body and space awareness, visual skills, rhythm, memory, listening and aids in developing relationships with peers.
This was our first class and the children did so well. We had a discussion first, explaining what we were doing and that when they hear one whistle it means go and two whistles means stop. We broke the children into 3 groups and got started. We had three activities, bean bag throwing, goal kicking and an obstacle course. Every child had a turn of each activity with goal kicking being the favourite. As the children become more confident with the PMP process we will be engaging in more difficult activities giving the children more opportunity to develop their skills. |
