We have been very lucky over the past month to have the Inverloch CFA and local police Constable Jarrod Martin visit us at the centre. The children were all so excited to see the fire truck, hear the siren and see the flashing lights. The children had the opportunity to climb on the truck and discover what different parts do. Some children even got to hold the hose.
Constable Jarrod Martin is the community liaison officer his role is to speak with children about what the police do, educate them on general safety like how to call 000 and road rules as well as letting the children know that the police are there to help and they should never be afraid. During his visit the children also got the opportunity to sit in the police car and listen to the siren. These visits not only have been a great experience for the children but it has also helped instil a sense of community and promoted discussions with the children, educators and families. |
